Grupo musical estadounidense, formado en 1970, originario de Chicago y fundado por Maurice White. Aunque abarcaron muchos géneros musicales, fueron más prolíficos en la fusion de disco funk con el jazz, soul, gospel, pop, blues, folk, música africana y rock and roll. Ganaron seis premios Grammy siendo nominados veinte veces. Incluso poseen una estrella en el Paseo de la Fama de Hollywood. Continúa en activo. El 19 de junio de 1953 nació Larry Dunn, antiguo miembro.
